Litter/graffiti/dog fouling

LitterThe council is responsible for sweeping and removing litter, household bins and graffiti. They also have the means to deal with dog fouling and can prosecute animal owners who allow their pets to foul in public and not clean up. They can also take action against individuals causing persistent litter or rubbish problems.

Graffiti is a form of criminal damage and if you witness this taking place contact 101.
If you discover old graffiti please contact the council who will liaise with the police and agree a course of action.

  • A neighbour has dumped an old sofa in your rear lane or you are unhappy with the amount of litter from a nearby takeaway. 

    Solution:
     If you wish to report litter in the street or other public place or dog fouling then please contact your local Council on the below links and telephone numbers. They have the means to attend and clean up. They can liaise with the police if they believe further action is required.

  • You find some old graffiti painted on a wall or fence.

    Solution:
    If you wish to report unsightly graffiti then please contact your local Council on the below links and telephone numbers. They have the means to attend and clean up. They can liaise with the police if they believe further action is required.

  • You find a quantity of syringes in the play area of your local park.

    Solution Contact Northumbria Police by calling 101.
