Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 13 March 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I wish to have access to all data held by Northumbria Police or its agents that relates to accidents involving vehicles or pedestrians that occurred on or near (within 100 metres of ) Eastern Avenue, Gateshead. The area I am interested in is the eastern (top) section of the road, between Saltwell Road and down as far as the roundabout at the junction of Earls Way, and including (but not limited to) the junction with Breckenbeds Road.

I am interested in the period going back 15 years from today.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held, in part, by Northumbria Police, however not for the 15 year period of time specified by you.

Tyne and Wear Traffic and Accident Data Unit (TADU) carry out the statistical function on behalf of Northumbria Police and they may be able to assist you with your request.  Your request should be directed to them.
