Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

Thank you for your e mail dated 29 June 2016 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

Please provide information on the numbers of hate crimes recorded by Northumbria Police, broken down into the following monitored strands: 



Sexual orientation 



Please provide this information for the period between 1st March 2013 and 30th June 2016. Please provide this information broken down by full crime date – DD/MM/YYYY. If data is not available broken down by full crime date, please provide data broken down by calendar month. 

Please provide data for the entire month of June 2016 if possible. If the shortest timeframe available is by calendar month, and the data for June 2016 is not yet available for the entire month, please indicate the dates which are represented in the data. 

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

This data has been collated using the date that the offence was created.

There are 94 instances where a 2 hate flags have been used.  The crime will be counted in the totals for both types of hate crime.

Totals for June represent the entire month.
