Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated  22 May 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

"I am doing some research on accidents involving Mobility Scooters.

For the last 12 months please could you tell me under the Freedom of Information Act.

      1)   How accidents have involved mobility scooters and;
      2)   What these accidents entailed."
 

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

1. For the 12 month period   May 2011 to April 2012 there have been 21 accidents which involved mobility scooters

2.These were as follows:

Person fell from Mobility Scooter 8
Person on Mobility Scooter collided with door to residential premises 1
Person on Mobility Scooter collided with pedestrian 4
2 car Road Traffic collision caused by the actions of person on Mobility Scooter 1
Collision between Car and Mobility Scooter 7
