Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

Thank you for your e mail dated 5 May  2016 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked:

1. Could you tell us how many dogs were reported stolen in your police force area from January1st 2015 to December 31st 2015?

2. Can you tell us in each case what breed of dog was reported stolen?

3. Can you also stipulate if in each case someone was arrested, whether the case went to court and what sentence they received.

4. If it is within budget and the information is available could you provide a separate table for January – April this year with the same information? 

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police. 

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows. 

1. & 4.

2015 - 47 dogs were reported stolen      

2016 to 30/04/16  - 13 dogs were reported stolen


The information provided at points 2, 3 and 4 has been presented in such a way as to avoid exemptions being applied.
