Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 11 January 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

  1. The total amount of money spent by the force on translators/translation services for the last five years, or for the years for which information is available.

  2. The number of arrests of non-UK nationals for the last five years, or for the years for which information is available.

  3. Any memos, guidance or policy documents relating to the hiring or commissioning of translators/translation services.  I am seeking current guidance. For memos, I would request those sent in the last 12 months, or 2011, by which I refer to any circulars or document that are distributed widely via email or department heads, which may be in the form of an update to previous guidance or new information for staff.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Criminal Justice and Corporate Development Departments of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
