Date of request: 24/01/2012
Date of response: 20/02/2012
Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)
Thank you for your email dated 24 January 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
The information I am requesting is details of violent crimes that happened on Saturdays during 16th August 2008 to 24th May 2009, 15th August 2009 to 9th May 2010 and 14th August 2010 to 22nd May 2011 in the Sunderland North Neighbourhood area. If possible the data fields I require are:
Date of offence
Time of offence
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.
Included in this response are all violence against the person, sexual offences and robberies within 'violent crime'.
The results are based on a search of the 'committed from' date, i.e. wherever this date was a Saturday between the periods requested.
Within the results the entries with times and dates in both the 'date/time from' and 'date/time to' fields were committed over a period of time. Those with just times and dates in the 'date/time from' fields were committed at a specific time. The 'date from' and 'time from' fields are blank for these crimes.
Please note, it should not be taken that these crimes were as a consequence of any football match on that day and should therefore not be attributed as such.
If you decide to write an article / use the enclosed data we would expect that you to take into consideration the factors highlighted above so as to not mislead members of the public or official bodies or misrepresent the relevance of the whole or any part of this disclosed material.
With the above in mind please see the below attached document.
The information we have supplied to you is likely to contain intellectual property rights of Northumbria Police. Your use of the information must be strictly in accordance with the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988 (as amended) or such other applicable legislation. In particular, you must not re-use this information for any commercial purpose.
