Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 8 June 2013 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

  1. How much money has your force paid to G4S Policing Solutions over each of the past three financial years – 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13? If you paid an employment agency such as Reed to obtain services from G4S Policing Solutions, please state instead how much they were paid.

  2. How many people has your force used from G4S Policing Solutions over each of the past three financial years – 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13?

  3. If possible, please state what areas these people worked in. The categories listed by G4S Policing Solutions are Specialist Crime – Major Crime, Serious & Organised Crime, Economic Crime, Child Protection Teams and Specialist Operations, Operational Support – Intelligence, PNC Bureau, Disclosure & Vetting, Forensics, Communication Centre, Custody, Operational Planning, Partnerships & Crime Reduction, Professional Standards, Human Resources/Training, Territorial Policing – Neighbourhood Policing Teams, C.I.D. Intelligence, Support, Roads Policing, Criminal Justice Units. If you could give any details of their functions, ie ‘we had 3 investigators in child protection teams for 6 months’, that would be helpful.

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Crime and Finance Department  of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have today decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

    2012/13 - Nil

  3. All worked in homicide investigations conducting outside enquiries such as statement taking and CCTV viewing. 

Due to the different methods of recording information across 43 forces, a specific response from one constabulary should not be seen as an indication of what information could be supplied (within cost) by another.  Systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  For this reason responses between forces may differ, and should not be used for comparative purposes.

How to complain
