Provision of informati11 held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated  12 May 2015 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

 Please provide the following information in relation to the current staffing levels in the Human Resources Dept of Northumbria Police. 
1. The total number of staff in the Human Resources Dept whose pay scale is C grade or above. 
2. Of the staff numbers referred to please break the numbers down to identify how many posts there are in each grade and there title. EG, 5 posts at H grade, HR advisor. 
3. Please provide the payscale range for each of the posts identified in part 2. 
4. Please provide the total annual wage bill for the  Human Resources Dept. 

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

  Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the HR and Finance Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I am able to disclose the located information to you as follows.

Salary costs are inclusive of basic salary, employer national insurance and pension contribution. 
4.  The total annual wage bill for the Human Resources department equates to £2,668,952 per annum  

Due to the different methods of recording information across 43 forces, a specific response from one constabulary should not be seen as an indication of what information could be supplied (within cost) by another.  Systems used for recording these figures are not generic, nor are the procedures used locally in capturing the data.  For this reason responses between forces may differ, and should not be used for comparative purposes.
