Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)

Thank you for your email dated 24 May 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.

You asked: 

Under the FOIA can you please supply all non-exempt recorded information that Northumbria Police hold, as well an up to date  list, relating to business interests and secondary employment, if any, for following officers;

  1. Your Chief Officer Team at Northumbria Police, i.e. Chief Constable Sue Sim, Deputy Chief Constable Mark Gilmore and also Assistant Chief Constable's Jim Campbell, Steve Ashman and Greg  Vant.

  2. Please supply same information relating to officers of the rank of chief superintendent.   

Can you please ensure that the information, in 1 and 2 above, also includes both paid and unpaid (full-time or part-time) secondary   employment and all/any consultancy employment, if any, both paid or unpaid, carried out and or undertaken by above officers. I would like this information to cover past 12 months (including up until the date this request is answered).

In response:

We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Professional Standards Department of Northumbria Police.  I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

I have decided to disclose the located information to you as follows.

  1. None of the Chief Officer team have recorded business interests or secondary employments.

  2. 4 Chief Superintendents have recorded business interests: 
    1 is a committee member of a charity. 
    1 is a member of a PTA and a Community Governor at a school. 
    2 have property rentals.

You may be interested to know that Northumbria Police routinely publish information that has been disclosed by Northumbria Police in response to requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 via the Disclosure Log.  The aim of the Disclosure Log is to promote openness and transparency by voluntarily placing information into the public arena.

How to complain
