Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')(FOIA)
Thank you for your email dated 3 January 2012 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police.
As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions.
How many people were arrested for drink driving offences in your force area in 2011?
How many of these were arrested between the hours of 5am-12 midday?
How many people were arrested over the 2011 festive period (Dec 24-January 1) for drink-driving?
How many of these were arrested between the hours of 5am-midday?
How many recorded incidents did you record of motorists or moving vehicles being attacked by bricks, stones, rocks or other objects/ missiles during 2011?
Do you have any comparative figures for questions 1-5 from 2010?
We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention.
Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted with the Corporate Development Department of Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.
I have decided to disclose the located information to you as follows, however please note the following:
This information is based on the number of recorded arrests for both 2010 and 2011.
1-4 & 6. Searches were made of recorded arrests for the following offence types
Drive / Attempt whilst unfit drink / drugs, unclear which
Drive motor vehicle when alcohol above limit,
In charge of motor vehicle - alcohol level above limit
Drive / attempt to drive motor vehicle whilst unfit through drink,
In charge of motor vehicle whilst unfit through drink,
In charge of motor vehicle whilst unfit - unclear drink or drugs.
5. As advised in our acknowledgement email, we have provided below a list of the objects/missiles we have used to conduct our keyword searches. Objects searched for included, brick, stone, rock, ball, boulder, coin, concrete, concrete slab, debris, gravel, missile, paving slab, pebble and traffic cone.
