Provision of information held by Northumbria Police made under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the 'Act')

Thank you for your e mail dated 9 January 2017 in which you made a request for access to certain information which may be held by Northumbria Police. 

As you may be aware the purpose of the Act is to allow a general right of access to information held at the time of a request, by a Public Authority (including the Police), subject to certain limitations and exemptions. 

You asked:

1.  How  many  active  fixed  speed cameras do you have in your police force area?

2.  Were  any  new permanent cameras installed between January and December 2016? If so how many and at what locations?

3. Based  on data from the last 12 months (January – December 2016), where are  the  locations of the five fixed speed cameras in each/your force area that  have  caught  the  most  speeding  motorists?

4. How many motorists have each of those cameras caught?

5. Which  location within your police force area has seen the highest number  of  people  caught  speeding  by  temporary  roadside  speed  limit enforcement methods?


We have now had the opportunity to fully consider your request and I provide a response for your attention. 

Following receipt of your request, searches were conducted within Northumbria Police. I can confirm that the information you have requested is held by Northumbria Police.

5. During 2016 we only had temporary average speed camera's on the A1 at the Western Bypass
