Man charged after Gateshead burglaries

A man has been charged in connection with three burglaries in Gateshead.

Between 7am and 8am on Sunday, April 10, two homes in Armstrong Street were broken into and items stolen including a handbag and a laptop computer.

There was an attempt to get inside a third property in Armstrong Street around the same time.

Officers responded and arrested John Joseph Gallagher, 42, of Warwick Court in Gateshead in connection with the break-ins.

He was later charged with two counts of burglary and one count of attempt burglary.

He will appear at South Tyneside Magistrates Court on April 11.
