A man has been jailed for over five years after a robbery in Northumberland.
On Tuesday, January 5, a man entered Chisolms Bookmakers, in Seaton Deleval, armed with a knife. He demanded cash and made threats to staff before making off.
Dean James Bradshaw, 26, of Main Street, Seghill, was arrested and charged with robbery and possessing an offensive weapon. He appeared before Newcastle Crown Court on Wednesday, April 13, where the prison sentence was handed down.
Detective Inspector Sharon Chatterton said: "Although no one was injured during the robbery, staff were understandably left shaken after a frightening experience for them.
"The sentence passed by the court now mean a dangerous offender is behind bars for a significant period of time and Northumberland is a safer place for it.
"This should be a warning to others that we will use every tool at our disposal to arrest offenders and have them put before the courts to ensure the community is protected from their criminal activity.
