Police are appealing for witnesses after a fight in a Newcastle city centre takeaway on Christmas eve.

Around 4:40am on Saturday, December 24, a fight involving a number of people broke out inside the Magic Flame takeaway in Westmorland Road.

The altercation involved a number of men and women and left one man with a broken leg and another with serious facial injuries that required hospital treatment.

Officers are studying CCTV footage from inside the premises but are keen for anyone who was in the take-away when it happened and who has any information to get in touch.

They are particularly keen to speak to a woman who was inside the Magic Flame and who was wearing a mustard coloured jacket and trousers as she might have important information.

Anyone with any information is asked to ring police on 101 quoting reference number 231 24/12/16.
