Whitley Bay shop robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a shop robbery in Whitley Bay.

It happened at the Co-op store on Earsdon Road in North Tyneside at 8.20pm on Thursday, February 16.

A man entered the store and demanded cash from the till and threatened staff with a knife. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured but staff were shaken.

The person responsible for the robbery is described as a white man, very tall, with a shaved head carrying a knife. He was wearing a black tracksuit with a grey jumper underneath, grey hat and a scarf.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious, is asked to contact police.
