Three injured after attending a fire in Houghton

Police are appealing for witnesses after an altercation after a fire in Houghton.

At around 5.05pm officers received a report of fire fighters being assaulted after attending a fire in Railway Street.

The fire had been extinguished and there is not believed to be any risk to the public. Three fire fighters have received treatment for superficial injuries, none of which are believed to be serious.

Two men and a woman have been arrested and are currently in police custody.
