Appeal following burglary in Westerhope

Police are appealing for information after a burglary in Newcastle.

Between 4.15pm and 4.45pm on Tuesday afternoon an unknown offender has tried to force entry to a house on Stamfordham Road in Westerhope.

They have smashed two downstairs windows before fleeing the area when the occupant of the address came downstairs. Nothing was stolen.

Enquiries to establish the identity of the person responsible are ongoing this afternoon and police are now appealing for any witnesses to get in touch.

A white male was seen acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident and officers are currently trying to identify that man.

He is described as white, very thing, very pale, bald and with a large birth mark. He was wearing a dark grey jacket.
