Investigation after body found in Wallsend

Police were called to the Lauderdale Avenue, Wallsend in North Tyneside at about 10.40am, today (March 9), after the body of a man was found.

Emergency services attended and the man was declared dead at the scene.

It is currently being investigated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to identify the man and contact his next of kin.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police are no longer treating the report of a body found in Lauderdale Avenue, Wallsend on Friday, March 9, as unexplained.

Following further investigations, detectives do not think there was any third party involvement.

A coroner’s report is being prepared.
