Police investigating a phone theft in Newcastle have released a 'selfie' image of a man they need to speak to.
It happened in the early hours of Saturday, May 24, at LQ nightclub at New Bridge Street, when a black Motorola mobile phone was stolen from a bag.
Police investigating the theft have released an image of a man they need to speak to. The image was taken on the stolen phone and uploaded automatically to the victim's online account.
A number of images of the same man were also uploaded, one of which included a comment mentioning Aberdeen.
PC Emma Tatusko is investigating, she said: "A number of enquiries have been carried out and we now have an image of a man we need to contact.
"We're keen to speak to the man in the image as it's believed they may have important information about the theft or the whereabouts of the stolen phone.
"They may have come into possession of the phone in good faith and I'd urge them or anyone who recognises them to contact police as soon as possible so they can help with our enquiries."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference 877 25/05/14, of Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
