March 2017: Crime and Anti –Social behaviour in the area of Tynemouth Road
What you told us:
Many local residents have been consulted by the Neighbourhood Policing Team as part of a residents survey and when asked what were the most important issues in the area for the police to be aware of, many residents cited that the sale of Legal Highs on the estate was causing crime and anti-social behaviour.
What we are doing about it:
We have increased patrols in your area with officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team as well as 24/7 response officers being deployed in the area between Heaton Park Road and Chillingham Road at all hours of the day. We have put in place a series of dispersal notices for the area and are working daily with the local authority and Your Homes Newcastle to tackle the problem. We are also actively targeting criminals who commit crime in South Heaton.
Keeping you informed:
The Newcastle East Neighbourhood Policing Team will attend the next round of Ward meetings held by the local authority and information about these meetings can be found on either the Northumbria Police website or the Newcastle City Council website.
