Police are appealing for information after a blank firing pistol was discharged in North Tyneside.

Just before 1am in the early hours of this morning (Monday) police received reports that shots had been fired outside an address on Murray Road in Wallsend.

Officers attended but those responsible - believed to be three males - had already fled the area. No one has been injured during this incident.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but police are now appealing for anyone who may have seen the males in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch.

They are described as white males who were wearing their hoods up. One was wearing a red and black jacket and black trousers while the other two were wearing all black tracksuits.

Extra officers are on duty in the area this morning to carry out enquiries and reassure any local residents concerned by the incident.

If you think you have information that may be useful to police, or know the males in question, then call police on 101 quoting log 25 22/05/17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
