How we have addressed the local issues you raised with us.

We asked

What concerns do you have about your neighbourhood?

You said

We have concerns about anti-social behaviour around North Shields Metro Station.

We did

  • We targeted the area with additional patrols by police officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

  • CCTV cameras were utilised to obtain descriptions of the youths involved.

  • Together with NTC Safer Estates Officers we carried out tenancy enforcement visits to the addresses of those responsible.

What concerns do you have about your neighbourhood?

You said

We have concerns about anti-social behaviour and unwanted attention caused by persons begging and sleeping rough in Tynemouth village.

We did

  • Positive action was taken when incidents were reported.

  • Neighbourhood officers and North Tyneside Council took action to ensure individuals who were genuinely homeless and in need of support received the help they needed by working with the Homeless charity Changing Lives.

  • Two persistant offenders were issued with Anti Social Behaviour Injunctions bannng them from Tynemouth village. If either of the offenders enter Tynemouth they will be arrested.

What concerns do you have about your neighbourhood?

You said

We are concerned that there has been an increase in anti-social behaviour on Priors Terrace fields and Collingwood Monument.

 We did

  • We utilised dispersal powers to remove persons from the area.

  • Police Community Support Officers have carried out extra cycle patrols in the area.
  • We also worked with North Tyneside Council to take tenancy enforcement action against identified repeat offenders.
