Motorcyclist injured in collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Cramlington when a motorcyclist was injured.

It happened at 5.37pm on Tuesday, March 14, on the A192 eastbound dual carriageway, approximately 300 metres before the junction with the Three Shoes roundabout.

A 31-year-old man riding a Kawasaki motorbike was travelling east just past East Hartford in lane one and was approaching the Three Shoes Roundabout, when he saw a stationary vehicle in the same lane. He began to brake and change lane when, for reasons yet to be established, he left the carriageway at the offside and was thrown from the bike suffering serious injuries to both arms.

Emergency services were called and the rider was taken to Cramlington Hospital where he is detained still receiving treatment. His condition is described as serious but not life threatening.

The A192 was closed for an hour while the casualty was treated and enquiries were made at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 and quote reference number 832 of 14/03/17.
